Luke Jackson: 19 year old wunderkind English singer-songwriter and powerful guitarist from Canterbury, Kent, currently nominated for both Horizon Award for Best Emerging Talent and BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award with a superb cd of surprisingly insightful views of Life from both child and parent perspectives along with songs marking the transition from the carefree days of childhood to responsibility-laden adulthood; produced by acclaimed Welsh singer-songwriter Martyn Joseph;

Dylan Sneed: superb Kickstarter-funded Americana release from Texas singer-songwriter, now based in Hartsville, SC, who has been described as "a sober Townes Van Zandt" by the Columbia Free Times, and as posssessing "music of passion that can move an audience with a whisper or a roar" by the Dallas Observer. The cd is an all original examination of the Life's ponderables concerning love, faith, family, home and friends except for a totally original take on Cindi Lauper's Girls Just Want To Have Fun which adds a certain pathos and heft to an otherwise cheery little calorie free but nonetheless enjoyable pop song. Dylan Sneed will be making his Little Rock Folk Club debut on Sat Feb 1st 2014;

Vishten: double category nominated (Traditional Album of the Year and Ensemble of the Year) Canadian Folk Music Awards album from multi-instrumentalist (fiddle, guitar, accordion, harmonium, whistles, piano, bodhran, jaw harp, Moog, electric guitar and foot percussion) Francophone trio from Canada's remote Prince Edward Island's Evangeline area and Quebec's windswept Magdalen Island featuring the exquisite harmonies and instrumental virtuosity of twin sisters Emmanuelle and Pastelle LeBlanc and stringed instrument wizard Pascal Miousse; funded in part by government funds via the Canada Music Fund and fan-based supportive funding featuring traditional songs and music with contemporary tunes from all three members;

Tim Grimm: Indiana-based master storyteller of autobiographical/personal experiences that engage the listener with a sense of empathic connectivity rather than the shared contents of a personal diary; joined by his wife Jan on 3 co-writes, harmony vocals and harmonica and son Connor on bass and piano, further augmented by the 4 members of the excellent Harpeth Rising, singer Cindy Kallett, frequent collaborator Jason Wilber (John Prine) on guitar and Grey Larsen on concertina to create an album of well crafted songs with arrangements from simple solo guitar to the orchestral tumesence of the full Harpeth Rising ensemble;

Oscar Issac et al: selected tracks from the various artists sound track to the latest Coen Brothers movie springing from their pondering on what would it take that would result in someone assaulting a poor old folk singer...? Will it cause a re-emergence of the 60s folk scare?, or send hordes to their local Guitar Center in search of folk instruments?, and is it claiming to be a biographical movie about Dave Van Ronk? No; no and no.

Paddy Tutty: impressive 6th release from Saskatoon, Canada, tradition-bearer singer accompanying herself on guitar, Anglo-concertina and fretted dulcimer, with songs from a wide variety of sources including 2 Child Ballads, a Welsh heroic dog legend, Peter Bellamy's Kipling collection, label-mate Norm Walker, an Australian transformational ballad and a Jim Boyes (Coope, Boyes & Simpson) classic.
