Mary Gauthier - 11th release from late bloomer with a personal story that sounds like a made for TV tale of loss and redemption with an album of songs of raw and bared emotions and ultimately a song of order and composure celebrating the human capacity to trust love, and lose, and then find that trust all over again despite the scorched and smoking residue from Love's oft-flaming arrow. Aided by guitarist Guthrie Trapp, keyboardist Jimmy Wallace, bassist Viktor Krauss, drummer Lynn Williams and singers Beth Nielsen Chapman, Ashley Cleveland and Darrell Scott, Siobhan Kennedy and The McCrary Sisters this is an album of candid exploration of relationships and of when they go bad...;

Pete Wood - 3rd solo album from ex-Lancastrian, long-time Tyneside resident, who has been singing in various bands including the Keelers, Pinch of Salt, and the High Level Ranters over the years. A fine multi-instrumentalist who is not afraid to walk the a cappella tightrope as evidenced by having accompaniment on piano or English concertina on only 4 of the 17 tracks on this lovely album of all traditional fare save for a sparkling The Dalesman's Litany which must be acknowledged with additional kudos or having been sung by a Lancastrian :-) - a lovely album!;

Renaissance -  acclaimed for their unique blending of progressive rock with classical and symphonic influences, Renaissance can trace its origins back to 1969 when the Yardbirds disbanded, founding members, Keith Relf and Jim McCarty began to organize a new group devoted to the experimentation between rock, folk, and classical forms. That lineup would last until the arrival of Annie Haslam and Michael Dunsford  in 1971 who together formed the backbone of subsequent lineups down the many

intervening years. On this release, their 25th under the Haslam/Dunsford banner and arguably their finest, they deliver their classic sound undiminished by the passing years, tho sadly shortly after completion of the album Dunsford died;

Runa - 4th album from this award winning multi-national Philadelphia-based quintet of highly accomplished individual musicians who have combined to present an enjoyable live performance honed through live performance at festivals and venues across the US and embellished by excellent step-dancing from singer/bodhran player Shannon Lambert-Ryan and guitarist Fionan De Barra. In 2014, RUNA won top group and top traditional group in the Irish Music Awards and an Independent Music Award for Best Song in the World Traditional Category for “Amhrán Mhuighinse” from their last CD, “Somewhere Along the Road.” On their latest album they are joined by three Grammy award-winning guest artists: accordion player Jeff Taylor(Paul Simon, Elvis Costello);  multi-instrumentalist Ron Block (Alison Krauss & Union Station), and guitarist, harmonica player Buddy Greene (Kentucky Thunder). Drawing from the music wells on both sides of the Atlantic, songs from Kate Rusby and the late Davey Steele sit nicely alongside band member compositions and Americana such as "The Banks Are Made Of Marble" a song championed by the late Pete Seeger, and tune sets combining Irish trad, bluegrass, Appalachian and jazz elements. "Current Affairs" is a fine addition to their catalogue and sure to bring them new admirers;

Hanneke Cassel - Oregon-raised, Boston-based composer and fiddler extraordinaire with strong influences from Scottish and Cape Breton traditions leavened with early roots in Texas fiddling style, simmered with attendance at the Berklee College of Music and further spiced up with experiences working with street kids in Kenya and over 10 trips to China, including a teaching stint in Shanghai! On this outing she is oined by a bevy of Boston area friends including Crooked Still's cellist Rushad Eggleston, fiddler/violist Jeremy Kittel, new husband Mike Block (Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble) and guitarist Keith Murphy in addition to a vocal contribution from ex-Crooked Still Aoife O'Donovan - magic!;

Rod MacDonald  - 11th release from this mellifluously voiced Connecticut-born tho long-time Florida-based singer-songwriter and novelist who began his career back in the 1980s folk revival in Greenwich Village where he co-founded the Greenwich Village Folk Festival. With excellent vocals and a rocking back up band on hand, the album covers a goodly range of subjects including songs about religion, politics and relationships with songs such as "Young Republicans In Love" comprising all three in one fell swoop! Meanwhile, the epic "White Flour" demonstrates that humor can make hatred look quite foolish as in this song about a Klan rally beset by a group of folks dressed up as clowns throwing white flour into the air and chanting "White Flour" as they marched alongside the hooded Klan marchers :-)
